Art, craft and design fairs (art fairs) have the responsibility to:
promote the art fair to target audiences
oversee installation and de-installation
uphold the principles of Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property, see First Nations and the Indigenous Art Code
implement cultural safety protocols, see Racial Equity and Representation
meet legal obligations in the areas of Intellectual Property, see Intellectual Property
arrange in advance for Acknowledgement and Welcome to Country in physical spaces and online
ensure spaces and processes are accessible, see Access Rights for d/Deaf and Disabled People
ensure application and selection processes are equitable and inclusive, see Equitable Application Processes
meet venue health and safety requirements, see Workplace Health and Safety
implement security and crowd control strategies
implement sustainable strategies in event production, see Climate Adaptation and Environmental Action
Stallholders have the responsibility to:
arrange timely payment of fees
negotiate agreements with exhibited artists, see Commercial Galleries and Representation
provide staff and resources to attend the stall during art fair hours
handle the sale of artworks (in most cases)
provide accessible information on artworks
install and de-install within set timeframes
insure works during the art fair period (as required)
participate in promotional activities
Agreements should provide:
a stall rental agreement
an outline of responsibilities of both parties
clear fee structure and payment timeframes
terms and conditions
