Checklist

Workplace Health and Safety obligations cover a wide range of areas:

  • structure and stability of premises 

  • temperature, ventilation and freshness of the air

  • hazardous materials and storage

  • safety of entrances and exits, including proper lighting and clear access

  • security from assaults by the public, or other workers

  • security from bullying and racial or gendered harassment

  • reasonable working hours that do not impact on health

  • safe working environments that do not create undue stress or other mental health issues

  • Covid safety provisions are in place

  • appropriate safety training and equipment

  • appropriate protective clothing such as masks, ear muffs, goggles, gloves

  • awareness of the location of first aid stations, emergency exits, fire evacuation procedures and fire extinguishers

  • first aid kit that is well stocked with clearly visible signage

  • fire safety measures, including fire hydrants, fire safety blankets and fire evacuation plan

  • slip and trip hazards are managed

  • ergonomic workplaces
